Day - 60 Speak the same language
We often speak Putonghua at school. But where does Putonghua come from? In fact, there are over 130 languages and lots of dialects in China. In the past, people from different places spoke their own languages. They couldn’t understand each other well. So, in the 1950s, China decided on a common language. They called it Putonghua. It is based on northen dialects, especially the dialect in Luanping, Hebei. It has simple pronunciations and tones. It’s so easy to speak and learn! Now, over 80 percent of people in China can speak it.
